Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu is going to keep outfielder Ichiro Suzuki in the leadoff spot, no matter how much the team struggles.

With Seattle struggling offensively, many have called for Ichiro to be moved into a more run-producing role.

"He's the most consistent player we have. Take him out of that [spot], then maybe he changes," Wakamatsu said Tuesday night.

The Mariners have scored three runs or fewer on 13 occasions this month.
