Filip Bondy of the New York Daily News writes that Mets manager Jerry Manuel may be managing on borrowed time.

The organization held meetings earlier this week and popular third baseman David Wright publicly questioned Manuel's decision to give him a day off recently.

The Mets will play a high-profile series against the crosstown Yankees this weekend, putting Manuel under an even bigger microscope than usual.

"If Manuel can defeat the Yanks a couple of times, it means more than winning against the Nationals Thursday night. It buys him some time, probably gets him to June. And if the Mets are pounded, well, then everything gets accelerated and a mercy firing may be just around the corner," Bondy writes.
