With a new book casting more doubt than ever on Barry Bonds' accomplishments from 1999 through 2003, Bud Selig said he would "review all the material that's relative in every way."

That did not mean an investigation like the one that brought down Pete Rose in 1989, Selig stressed. "I just said I would review all of the information," Selig said. "I was very careful ... to say exactly what I said, and that's exactly what I mean."

He added that the review would not be overseen by one person -- as was the case when John Dowd ran the Rose commission -- but would involve such in-house people as Major League Baseball president Bob DuPuy and executive vice presidents Rob Manfred, John McHale Jr. and Jimmie Lee Solomon.

"Obviously, we've only seen parts of things," Selig said. "And the book itself doesn't come out until the end of the month, but we'll review everything that there is to look at."
