The Phillies have placed closer Brad Lidge on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

It marks Lidge's second trip to the DL this season as the team hopes rest will heal the inflammation. A recent MRI showed no structural damage.

Philadelphia turned to Jose Contreras to close the team's win over Milwaukee on Saturday.

"Twenty-two years starting games, and now my career is closing games," Contreras said. "It was a tough situation at that moment, but I was able to save the game. That's the most important thing."
