While defending the Phillies against accusations of sign-stealing in Denver, Charlie Manuel said Wednesday that ?somebody ought to check on the Mets,? citing the difference in the Mets? record at home (14-8) and on the road (4-8).

?I don?t know what Charlie?s talking about,? Jerry Manuel said Thursday. ?Charlie just likes to put some spice in the rivalry, that?s what he likes. That?s good. That?s all good. ... I like that. Hey, tell him we?re hitting .220 at home, so we need to stop stealing signs if that?s what we?re doing.?

Actually, the Mets haven?t hit quite that poorly at home. They?re batting .267 at Citi Field, which ranks 10th in the NL home batting average.
