The new Yankee Stadium will hold its first-ever concert on Monday, September 13, with a doubleheader of JAY-Z and Eminem. ?We are thrilled that two of today?s most exciting music artists will headline the first-ever concert at Yankee Stadium,? said Chief Operating Officer Lonn Trost. ?Yankee Stadium was built with this kind of mega-event in mind. It will undoubtedly be a memorable occasion for music fans around the world.? While this event will serve as the Stadium?s first official concert, JAY-Z has previously performed at Yankee Stadium, singing his hit ?Empire State of Mind? with Alicia Keys on October 29, 2009, prior to the Yankees? 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series. The September 13 concert will be the second of a home-and-home series of shows for New York City-native JAY-Z and Eminem, who was raised in the Detroit metropolitan area, as the pair will also perform at Detroit?s Comerica Park on September 2.
