The Red Sox announced on Monday night that they have pushed back Josh Beckett's next scheduled start.

Instead of pitching Wednesday, Beckett will next start on Friday against the Tigers.

Beckett's back is acting up and he has struggled mightily in his last two starts.

"It is a little bit of a coincidence because he was going to pitch Friday," manager Terry Francona said of Beckett's back. "But when he was swinging, it spasmed up on him a little bit."
