Cubs hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo insists that he's working just fine with third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

He denied a report by the Chicago Tribune that Ramirez has declined his help during his early-season slump.

"I started approaching him because I want him to hit," Jaramillo said.

"All I'm trying to do is just help out. He has been great about it. He hasn't resisted in any way. But again, it has to start from me. I'm the one who has to prove myself to him. He already has done his job over and over. I come in new, (with) new ideas and stuff. It'll work out."

Jaramillo also said that he has been working in the cage with Ramirez, who has been "asking for ideas" about hitting.

He is hitting .160 with an OPS of .226 this season.
