The Cardinals remain optimistic that they will eventually retain Albert Pujols. Getting Pujols re-signed before his contract expires after the 2011 season will be the biggest challenge of GM John Mozeliak's career. The Phillies' recent $25 million annual investment in first baseman Ryan Howard only increased the price of doing business. "We're going to have to work together to get it done," Mozeliak said. "And I'm looking forward to that, I really am. I know Albert loves being a St. Louis Cardinal, and we love having him. So I do think that when the time comes, it will be something we can get done."
