Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz hit his first home run of the season on Friday night against the Orioles.

Ortiz has been mired in a slump and was yanked from Boston's DH spot in each of the team's previous two games.

"You can tell he's getting a lot better," said Victor Martinez. "You can see it in his [batting practice]."

Ortiz entered the game hitting .146 with just two RBIs.

He homered into the Green Monster seats off Jeremy Guthrie, moving Boston ahead 1-0 in the second inning.
