The Yankees turned their first triple play in more than 40 years in the sixth inning on Thursday against the Athletics, helping out pitcher CC Sabathia in a big way.

With runners at first and second and the Yankees trailing, 4-2, Sabathia was working to Kurt Suzuki, who chopped a ground ball to Alex Rodriguez at third base.

Rodriguez ran to the third base bag and stepped on it to force out Daric Barton, then fired to Robinson Cano at second base to nail Ryan Sweeney.

Cano whipped the ball on to Nick Johnson at first base to force out Suzuki and complete the triple play.
