"I don't expect anything," said right-hander Curt Schilling, who last week said his only concern is whether Ramirez joins the team by their April 3 opener at Texas. "I have no control over whether Manny comes through the door or not, and how I feel about it is not going to change anything." Manager Terry Francona said he hasn't spoken with Ramirez since Feb. 20, when a lengthy phone conversation swayed him and general manager Theo Epstein to approve Ramirez's late arrival. He said Tuesday he didn't expect Ramirez's tardiness, after requesting a trade over the winter and hinting that might not report if the request was not honored, to cause a problem. "I don't know how he's going to treat you guys," Francona told reporters. "Yeah, I think it will be fine. I think to view it any other way would be unfair to Manny." |
