Braves rookie outfielder Jason Heyward has had his Opening Day home run revised to 451 feet. Atlanta originally estimated that his three-run shot off Cubs right-hander Carlos Zambrano traveled just 414 feet. A member of the team's scoreboard staff and bullpen catcher Alan Butts took time Thursday afternoon to measure the distance of the blast that landed just in front of the mound located on the first-base side of the bullpen. "Of all the homers I've seen hit into the bullpen, I'd say that's probably the second longest that I've seen behind one that [Barry] Bonds hit a few years ago," Butts said. "Bonds hit one off the back doors and Heyward's was probably 20 feet shorter." |
