The White Sox have hired former Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause to be a baseball consultant.

Krause's primary duties will be to help observe and revamp the team's scouting system in the Dominican Republic.

He worked for the White Sox in the 1970s and 1980s before moving onto the Bulls.

"Very smart man," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Monday. "He gambled, trading for me, and he won.

"I think this guy is a very, very brilliant guy. I think he's a great baseball person, and he's going to be overlooking Latin America. I hope he finds another Ozzie Guillen."
