Although 14 Major League Baseball teams have reduced their payroll for the 2010 season, the average salary for players has increased by 1 percent, according to USA Today.

The slight increase, which was initially reported as a 17 percent drop before being corrected on Monday, is the smallest boost in average salary since 2004.
