The Royals have acquired right-handed pitcher Luis Mendoza from the Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. Mendoza was added to the Royals? 40-man roster, putting the roster at 40, and is expected to join the club in Arlington tonight. Mendoza, 26, made five relief appearances for the Rangers this spring, posting a 4.50 ERA in 14.0 innings, walking four and striking out six. He spent nearly the entire 2009 season with Oklahoma City (AAA), posting a 6-7 record with a 4.53 ERA in 25 games, including 18 starts. Born in Veracruz, Mexico, Mendoza, originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by Boston in 2000, currently lives in Mexico City.
