Astros first baseman Lance Berkman saw his knee swell up following morning workouts on Tuesday.

Houston is giving consideration to placing him on the disabled list to begin the 2010 season.

"We got him out there to try to take a lot of ground balls, and (the knee) wasn't moving quite like I think he was comfortable with," manager Brad Mills said. "So we're just going to back off with him for a couple of days and see what happens."

Berkman had his left knee scoped March 13.
