Red Sox infielder Mike Lowell left Friday's game after fouling a ball off his left knee.

X-rays came back negative and Boston released that Lowell has a bruised knee.

"He took a pretty good shot," manager Terry Francona said. "It was just below the kneecap and it didn't get just bone. We were going to DH him tomorrow, but I don't think that's realistic. He's going to be pretty sore."
