Yankees legend Reggie Jackson says he understands what Angels outfielder Torii Hunter was trying to say about Latin 'imposters' in game. "I understand what Torii was saying. I think he was misinterpreted," said Jackson, who is a mixture of African-American and Latino heritage. "Torii Hunter has no malice in his heart. He's a wonderful person of great character and he's done a great deal in communities to prove that and back that up. I think when you make a comment to the media - and I'm at fault at times - you need to be able to read what you're saying at the same time." Hunter's comments suggested that although fans see minorities on the field, the perception that the numbers of African-Americans in the game are rising is false. "People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they're African-American," Hunter said. "They're not us. They're impostors. Even people I know come up and say, 'Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero? Is he a black player?' I say, 'Come on, he's Dominican. He's not black.' "
