Baseball started an investigation into the use of maple bats last season but has not outlawed them. ?Hitters like them,?? said Lester. ?Until you get a serious injury from one, I don?t think they?re really going to change. I don?t know what we can do to make them safer. There are just too many dangers. Ash doesn?t shatter like that. We need to figure out a way to make them a little bit stronger.?? Said Rays manager Joe Maddon, ?If we?re going to wait for someone to actually get killed or impaled, we?re going to wait way too long. Something has to be done.?? |
