Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols is feeling more at ease following reconstructive elbow surgery. Pujols had a half-dozen bone spurs removed from his chronically troublesome right elbow during offseason surgery. Following pre- and post-operative consultation with Dr. James Andrews and Dr. George Paletta, the team physician, Pujols' worries were eased. "I told Dr. Paletta and Dr. Andrews 'If you go in there and you see something different from the test, go ahead and get it done,' " Pujols said Sunday. "They didn't. It's good news to hear Dr. Andrews tell me that probably you will never have to worry about having the Tommy John [surgery]."
