Brandon Webb says that Dan Haren deserves to start for the Diamondbacks on Opening Day.

Webb has been Arizona's No. 1 starter in each of the last four seasons, but he'll enter spring training bouncing back from shoulder surgery.

Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch selected Haren as the Opening Day starter on Friday to reward him for last season and to give Webb extra time to prepare.

"I definitely think Danny deserves to get the ball on opening day," Webb said Saturday.

"He had a great year last year. If I start Game 3, I'm happy starting anywhere. That means I'm out there playing."
