The Marlins may be more likely to keep second baseman Dan Uggla and sign pitcher Josh Johnson to a long-term extension now that they have agreed to raise their payroll.

Major League Baseball and the team announced on Tuesday that the Marlins have agreed to increase their payroll.

Florida has basically been told that they must channel the revenue sharing money the club receives each year toward player salaries.

The Marlins will reportedly be required to spend more than $40 million in 2011, which could be good news for Uggla and Johnson.

Uggla has been mentioned in trade rumors because of his salary and Johnson is looking for a long-term extension.
