The Mets are nearing an agreement with free-agent pitcher R.A. Dickey on a minor league contract.

The deal isn't finalized, according to the Associated Press.

Dickey, 35, made 14 starts for Seattle in 2008 but was primarily a reliever for Minnesota last season.

He was taken by Texas with the 18th pick of the 1996 amateur draft.
