The Red Sox and Rangers are still pouring over medical charts before finalizing the Mike Lowell trade.

Boston would get catching prospect Max Ramirez in the deal and the Red Sox would pick up a majority of Lowell's $12 million salary for 2010.

The Providence Journal reports that the deal, which was once close to 80 percent complete, how has a 50/50 chance of getting done.

The Rangers are concerned that Lowell will need surgery on his right thumb.
