The Red Sox have reached a preliminary agreement to trade third baseman Mike Lowell to the Rangers for catcher Max Ramirez, according to a report on FoxSports.
The deal is contingent, according to the report, on the players passing physicals and approval by Red Sox owners of absorbing a considerable chunk of Lowell's $12M salary.
Officials on both teams failed to respond to requests for comment.
