The Rangers have shut down catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

He felt shoulder discomfort during a game in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.

Saltalamacchia is expected to resume baseball activities in a month and Texas believes he'll be healthy and ready for spring training.

He had surgery on his right shoulder in September after he was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, a condition where a rib bone presses on a nerve and can cause numbness in the arm.
