The Red Sox will likely sign free agent Marco Scutaro.

"Scutaro is someone who our baseball ops people are looking at and talking to," said Larry Lucchino. "There will be a close examination on him and his fit."

Since the Red Sox picked up a number-one draft pick (20th overall) from Atlanta after the Braves signed left reliever Billy Wagner on Wednesday, Boston can ink Scutaro and not worry about losing its 2010 first-round selection (29th overall) to the Blue Jays.
