The Red Sox have expressed preliminary interest in free agent shortstop Marco Scutaro, according to sources.

Scutaro posted a .379 on-base percentage with 14 stolen bases for the Blue Jays in 2009.

Boston actually tried to acquire him at July's trade deadline as they have been looking for a solid option at shortstop for quite some time.
