Beeston: Halladay's Trade Request Isn't New
Blue Jays president Paul Beeston created a media stir last week when he told the New York Post that Roy Halladay won't sign an extension with the team.
His comments added fuel to Halladay trade rumors, which began in July when former Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi opened to the idea of trading the right-hander.
Beeston says that what he told the Post isn't new information, and that "nothing at all" has changed with Halladay.
"If we could sign Roy Halladay to a long-term contract today, we would sign him," Beeston told the Toronto Star.
"Why is this new? Roy Halladay has got this aspiration to play in the postseason, and you can't hold that against him."
