Johnny Damon single-handedly altered the course of the World Series with a gritty at-bat and a pair of stolen bases in the ninth inning of Game 4. New York won 7-4 on Sunday night, giving them a 3-1 series lead over Philadelphia. After a lengthy at-bat that resulted in a single, Damon stole second and third on one pitch. "I was trying to be aggressive and trying to get into scoring position," Damon, who went 3-for-5 and scored twice, told the New York Post. "It just worked out that there was a throw, the third baseman covered (second) and the pitcher didn't (cover third)." Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said miscommunication between Brad Lidge and catcher Carlos Ruiz left third base open. After Mark Teixeira was hit by a pitch, Alex Rodriguez doubled to left for the game-winning run.
