Joe Mauer and Albert Pujols are both reaching contractual crossroads with their teams.

Both the Twins and Cardinals are looking to keep their stars in town for the foreseeable future.

"I think Mauer has a better chance of staying in Minnesota than Pujols in St. Louis," one baseball official told the Boston Globe. "Mauer is from Minnesota, while you have to give Pujols an A-Rod type contract and I'm not sure the Cardinals would do it."

Mauer, 26, is due to become a free agent after next season.
