Tejada Says He Wants To Stay Again

Jan 15, 2006 3:05 PM EST

A week after telling a club official by phone that he wants to stay in Baltimore, Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada reiterated that request in an interview with The Sun in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, last night.

Soon, Tejada said he hopes to have a face-to-face conversation with club executive vice president Mike Flanagan, vice president Jim Duquette or both.

"I think they are coming [to the Dominican] next week," Tejada told The Sun before his team, Aguilas Cibaenas, played in a Dominican Winter League playoff game.

Duquette, reached last night, confirmed that he will be visiting Tejada in the near future and said Flanagan also might join him.

"It's not any secret we talked about going down there, but we haven't formalized the plans yet," Duquette said. "We are not really saying anything about it. We are not planning on disclosing when our meeting is or what is talked about in any public way."
