Rodriguez took Brian Fuentes' offering to right field just over the reach of Bobby Abreu. Joe Saunders and A.J. Burnett were the Game 2 starters and both pitched impressively, giving up two earned runs apiece. The Angels and Yankees both struggled with runners in scoring position, with the former going 3-for-15 and the latter posting an 0-for-8. The Yankees squandered scoring opportunities in the 5th, 6th and 7th inning by grounding into double plays. The Yankees had a single game Opsera of 5.50, while the Angels came in at 2.94. Jerry Hairston led off the bottom of the 13th inning with a base hit to left center and ultimately scored the winning run on a Melky Cabrera infield hit to the hole between first and second. Maicer Izturis threw wide to second base and the ball got by Erick Aybar, which allowed Hairston to score from second base.
