Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday committed an error with two outs in the ninth inning, giving the Dodgers a chance for a walk-off win on Thursday night. The error led to a two-out rally by Los Angeles, who won the game 3-2 on Mark Loretta's RBI single off St. Louis closer Ryan Franklin. The Cardinals head to St. Louis down 0-2. Holliday was unable to field a sinking line drive. If he made the catch, the Cardinals would have won the game 2-1. "I didn't see the ball," he told the Associated Press. "Obviously, I can catch a ball that's hit right at me. It's very difficult to swallow. We had a chance to win the game. It was unfortunate that it happened when it did." Holliday homered in the second inning. St. Louis manager Tony La Russa said the loss was hard to swallow. "It's about as tough a loss as you can have, except we still have an opportunity to play Saturday," La Russa said. "Right now I think it's important to get upset about the game that got away. We did a lot to win that one and didn't win it. Turn the page too quickly means you don't care."
