Major League Baseball owners have unanimously approved the sale of the Cubs.

The bankrupt Tribune Co. sold the club to the family of online brokerage billionaire and longtime fan Joe Ricketts.

Tom Ricketts could take day-to-day control of the Cubs by the end of the month.

"We're extremely pleased that the sales process is drawing to a close," commissioner Bud Selig told the Associated Press.
