The Yankee Stadium record for home runs in a season has been broken with eight games to spare.

Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero hit the 216th home run of the season at the new ballpark on Monday in its 73rd game.

The previous high was set at the old Yankee Stadium in 2004.

The only years 200 homers were hit at the old Yankee Stadium were 2004, 2000 (209) and 2005 (206), according to STATS LLC.
