Rodriguez struck out looking in the bottom of the fourth inning and was then tossed in the top of the fifth for arguing with home plate umpire Marty Foster. "I thought in that situation, when we need a win today, for him to take it into his own hands with no warning, I thought it was very unprofessional," A-Rod told the New York Post. The third baseman was ejected for the first time in five years. Foster came to his own defense after New York's 13-3 win over Baltimore. "He argued right after it happened. I let him do it. I let him argue a little bit, calmed that down. He argued during the [next] inning," the umpire said. "I ignored that. At the dugout, right before the [bottom of the fifth] inning started, I hear someone screaming at me. So I look over and there he is, screaming at me, arguing with the pitch. So that's why he was ejected, for arguing balls and strikes." |
