Cubs manager Lou Piniella says that Alfonso Soriano will not hit leadoff for the team next season.

"No, no, no, that's over with," Piniella told the Chicago Tribune. "No, we're not going to do that.

"No, if we stay the way we are, we have the option of [Kosuke] Fukudome or [Ryan] Theriot. If we add a speed player to the mix, that would change, obviously."

The Tribune points out that Soriano would likely slide down to fifth or sixth in Chicago's batting order.
