Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has tied Frank Thomas for the most home runs ever hit by a designated hitter.

Ortiz has smacked 269 home runs without playing in the field. His next homer from the designated hitter spot will separate him from The Big Hurt.

"I did?" Ortiz asked after the game. "Wow. That's a good accomplishment. Frank Thomas is a 500-home-run hitter, so to be tied with him, that's special."
