Blue Jays rookie Randy Ruiz was hit in the face with a pitch by Josh Towers on Sunday.

Towers, formerly of Toronto, was pitching for the Yankees in relief.

Ruiz appeared to be hit in the face on an 0-2 pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning.

He fell to his knees, but walked off the field under his own power a few minutes later.
