Mariano Rivera is hoping to return to the mound for the Yankees by Sunday.

Rivera is expected to throw a bullpen session on Saturday, according to manager Joe Girardi.

The closer hasn't pitched since Tuesday because of a sore left groin.

New York doesn't want to use Rivera until he's completely pain-free.
