The Marlins continued to shape their 2006 team Wednesday, signing right-handed reliever Kerry Ligtenberg to a minor-league contract and removing two players from the 40-man roster.

Ligtenberg, 34, spent last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks but was cut in June after pitching in seven games and compiling a 13.97 ERA in 9 2/3 innings. He did not get a decision. Ligtenberg will be invited to spring training in February with a chance to win a spot in the bullpen. If he is added to Florida's 40-man roster, he would make $600,000 in the major leagues and $72,000 in the minors.
