The Rockies believe that they have improved their chances of making the playoffs. Colorado recalled Jason Giambi on Tuesday and added recently-acquired pitcher Jose Contreras to the starting rotation. They are 5 1/2 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West, but lead the Giants by a game in the Wild Card race. "I'm excited to be here, come and just fit in, be part of a team, especially a team in the pennant race and as great a team as they have clubhouse-wise," Giambi told reporters. "Talking to Todd [Helton], I remember talking to him playing against them this year, and he just said the group of guys is incredible here. That's one of the things that steered me toward here, getting a chance to play with these guys." Manager Jim Tracy said he'll start Contreras on Saturday night against Arizona.
