The Cubs could use an upgrade at catcher after a disappointing 2009 from Geovany Soto.

Manager Lou Piniella said he still envisions Soto as his starter in 2010.

"I don't see any reason why not," he said. "It's been a little bit of a mystery to me why he has struggled so much this year. I really don't have an answer to it. I don't think Von Joshua, our hitting coach, has one either. I would've thought coming into this season that he was going to have a solid season."

Soto has no answers either and said he didn't know what the Cubs' plans were.

"That's something I don't have any control over," he said. "I've just got to go about my business and work hard and whatever happens, happens."
