By itself, the Mets' estimated payroll for disabled players would be higher than the total budgets of 17 other teams, according to figures compiled earlier this season by The Associated Press. Among that group of sidelined players collecting big bucks are Johan Santana ($20 million), Carlos Beltran ($18.5 million) and Carlos Delgado and Perez at $12 million each. Five players on the DL, including Santana and Perez, officially are listed as out for the rest the year.
