Gary Sheffield met with Mets general manager Omar Minaya and will remain with the team.

The pair met on Thursday to discuss the outfielder's status. Minaya told Sheffield that a team placed a waiver claim on him, but New York pulled him off waivers.

He admitted that the team wasn't offering enough for Sheffield in a trade.
