The Rangers failed to sign their top pick in the amateur draft, high school left-hander Matthew Purke, according to an Associated Press report.

Purke was the 14th overall pick in June.

?It?s disappointing,? Rangers GM Jon Daniels said after Monday night?s deadline passed.
