The Red Sox rallied from a 4-2 deficit entering the ninth inning on Friday night to beat the Rangers 8-4.

Boston now holds a 1 1/2 game lead in the American League Wild Card race.

Victor Martinez hit a go-ahead double with two outs in the top of the ninth, giving the Sox a 5-4 lead that they would build on.

"When you think you've seen everything, you probably haven't come close," Sox manager Terry Francona said, according to the Associated Press. "That was probably one of the more exciting innings I've been a part of."
