Mets manager Jerry Manuel wants the team to bring Gary Sheffield back in 2010. "I'd like to see Sheffield," Manuel said, according to the New York Post. "Sheffield's a good player, and I think he can still be a very, very productive player at the age of 40. It all hinges on health. But there's no doubt in my mind that this guy is going to hit until he's 50 years old. He's just that gifted and blessed to have that type of ability to hit." Sheffield has been in and out of the lineup in recent weeks due to a hamstring strain, which followed knee problems in June. |
